Jumla to Upperdolpo Trekking

*25 Days (5 Days Kathmandu & 20 Days Camping Trek)
* Grade: Challenging
*Max. Elevation: 5225m
* Departs >From Kathmandu, Every Monday & Thursday

The pristine route from Jumla to Dolpo offers a real adventure, in a remote, unspoiled "wild west" that has remained largely untracked & unexplored for centuries. We take an enjoyable flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu & on to Jumla, our trek start point. Crossing over the Tila River is a delightful easy walk through the quiet settlements like Garjlangkot as we join the ancient trade routes. We gradually come to the steep ascents & cross the Barbaria Lekh at 4282m. The vibrant jungles & quietness of the topography are much enjoyable as we make it to another pass, the Kagmara La (5,225m), our entrance to the upper Dolpo. The scenery now begins to change with the hills becoming shades of red, brown & grey. Eventually the view opens up dramatically looking east towards the snow peaks of the Kanjiroba Himal(6883m) & the five peaks of Dhaulagiri(all between 7200 & 8167meters). Our walk continues through lush pastures to the "Jewel Of Dolpo", the serene Phoksundo (Ringmo) Lake eagerly awaiting us at such a beautiful location up in the mountains. We descend into the Suligaad Valley via Roha, a small village with animistic traditions & on to Dunai, the head quarters of Dolpo. We continue our adventure ahead to Juphal, a small airstrip. We then fly to Nepal & back to Kathmandu.
