Kanchenjunga, 8598m high peaks, which lies on the Nepal/Sikkim border, is still a mystery. Few westerners have traveled this region in the past. It is very rich area of the Nepal Himalaya offering ideal habitat for Musk Deer, Blue Sheep and possibly the YETI also. Excellent views of Everest, Makalu and Kanchendzonga massif itself highlights photographic opportunities. It's a real wilderness terrain inhabited by a scattered population. Trekking to this area leads to such famous peaks of eastern Nepal as Kanchendzonga and the mysterious Jannu via the enormous Yalung Glacier. It also allows a tour of Lapsang La and Kanchendzonga glacier.

* Grade: Challenging Plus
* Max. Elevation: 5270m
* Departs From Kathmandu, Every Sunday & Tuesday

This trek provides a rare opportunity to trek the unspoiled trails of the far north-eastern corner of Nepal visiting both north & south aspects of Kanchenjungha, the world’s third highest peak. As a true adventurer who relishes Challenging Plus walk, you are rewarded with one of the most complete Himalayan trekking experiences.

You complete your preparations in Kathmandu before flying to Biratnagar & then to Taplejung where you meet your trekking crew. The trail starts with a decent through terraced fields & forests to the Tamur River, which you follow heading north. The walk is very picturesque, passing through many villages as you gain altitude on the trail to the alpine terrain around Ghunsa. From this Tibetan village you ascend along a remote higher-altitude trail, passing yak-herder settlements in the shadow of Jannu (7710m) & other Himalayan giants. The scenery is particularly spectacular. You then follow the moraines of the Kanchenjungha Glacier to complete your camp at Pangpema (5270m); from here the fantastic views of Kanchenjungha north face. You retrace your step to cross the Mirgin La (4610m) & gain access to the Yalung Glacier, to explore towering southern face of Kanchenjungha. This is perhaps Nepal’s most visually exciting trek with gorgeous views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu & Kanchenjungha itself. The return route heads via Khesewa to Taplejung airfield where you fly back to Kathmandu. You spend a further day in the city before we farewell you to continue your journey or we transfer you to the airport for your flight home
